  1. There is some larger story here. You don’t use an excavator to tear down a portion of a historical structure. You do it by hand. It looks like Trump wants to destroy the First Ladies offices that were designed an built by Elenore Roosevelt.

  2. He should be jailed, he does not own the Whitehouse.

  3. Yeah, but Kamala wasn’t outspoken enough for her support for Palestine. And groceries were expensive. Why didn’t the Vice President do cheaper groceries?

  4. I can’t imagine being that operator and saying, yeah, this is a good days work. I earned my pay today.

  5. Trash making the White House trashy. Who knew?

  6. “Torched.” My eyes are rolling out of my head.

I feel like this should be a much bigger deal than it seems to be. I’m trying to imagine Obama just knocking down part of the White House to build…anything. People lost their minds when Michelle planted a vegetable garden. People lost their minds when Nancy Reagan bought new china. Congress has had to review and approve any changes to the WH in the past.

The symbolism alone of bulldozing the WH without ANYONE knowing it would happen should be shocking, but no one is even trying to find out wtf is going on, how much of the WH they plan to demolish, and, I dunno, HOW TO FUCKING STOP IT.

  7. So what happens when a president who doesn’t have a pay-by-the-hour concubine takes residence, and the US has a First Lady ( or Gentleman?) again?
    This is pure Nero.

  8. I’m wondering who the contractor is…Boris Badinov?

  9. In all honesty, other presidents have modified the White House over the years. The east and west wings were added. A pool was added, etc. This is a massive addition that has no real added value that I can see except to be named the Trump Ballroom. I just hope it doesn’t look like the hall of mirrors at Versailles.

  10. This is that bastards “let them eat cake” moment.

A quarter billion dollars on some garish, gold leafed ballroom. What a fucking joke.

  11. No president should have the authority to make changes to the people’s house, exempting decor and normal maintenance, without oversight.

  12. I don’t think this strategy is going to work but maybe it will. I feel like the actual patriots are cool with an amazing ballroom for White House events. Who knows. I’m sure if it’s gorgeous, nobody will correct the record. Also, I think it’s the East Wing and not the main building.

    > “The modern East Wing of the White House was constructed in 1942, during World War II, under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, primarily to hide the construction of the underground Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC). Earlier iterations, such as a small coatroom for social events during the Theodore Roosevelt administration (1902), existed, but they were expanded and modified over time. Today, the East Wing houses the offices of the First Lady and her staff, a movie theater, and other administrative functions.”

  13. I only hope that when a democrat gets in there, they restore the rose garden and demolish this ballroom.

    It’s disgraceful.

  14. Wait, I thought MAGA demanded that we didn’t destroy history?

  15. I would have thought the white house had several historic designations to prevent this sort of atrocity.

  16. If civilization ever occupies the White House in the future this gaudy trashy addition should be devoted to a museum of national atrocities, starting with acts of murder by this administration of civilians in the open seas. There’s enough floor space to devote to slavery, the genocide of indigenous Americans, the internment of Japanese Americans and the exploitation of Chinese Americans.

  17. If you like, Canada can come and burn it down again for you like we did in 1812.

  18. I only hope the next president tears down this ballroom and puts up a rose garden.
