  3. His contract obliges him to live there, and they don’t charge him rent. It’s not like he refuses to pay rent that’s asked. It’s a benefit in kind like a company car etc would be.

    The fact that he earns over £400k, and that his salary has increased by ~£120k over the last two years, is what people should perhaps be outraged by, not the fact that he gets free rent as well.

    If they think he’s paid too much for the job he does, they should do something about that.

  4. Meanwhile rent has increased year upon year and theres never enough accommodation to go around. Not even mentioning how piss poor the facilities are. Campus is great until you want to live there

  6. I don’t think that free accommodation is necessarily an outrage. Especially if it’s designed so they are always on campus.

  7. This story should be published by a proper newspaper, not some awful student style publication, if it hasn’t already. Not that it’s an important story but it’s something our press would love.

    The Tab is desperate to appear to be really in tune with issues here too, not just in England and it’s nauseating.

  8. So many people love a freebie. Keir Starmer, Rachel Reeves and this guy too…having a huge salary doesn’t help. Basically just greed.

  9. Greedy Gerry isn’t new, went to that uni and we’ve been calling him that for a good while
