Young singers are being invited to audition for a national choir.

The National Children’s Choir of Great Britain (NCCGB) is holding auditions in Manchester on November 8 for children aged nine to 19.

Successful applicants joining the choir from Easter 2026.

Each young singer will be asked to perform a memorised, accompanied song lasting no longer than three minutes, and will also take part in aural and musical memory tests.

Nicole O’Donnell, chief executive of NCCGB, said: “After an incredibly successful year, we are proud to be holding more auditions in a wider geographic spread of the country than ever before, thanks to the enlightened generosity of our donors.

“It is our aim to see as many children in person as we physically can, but alongside this, we have scheduled an online round, open to anyone more than 100 miles from an audition venue.

“I have seen first hand the remarkable work that our professional musicians and pastoral staff do, and it is a joy to see our young people sharing and developing their love for singing individually and as a group.”

Older children will be given sight-singing exercises tailored to their ability.

Auditions last around 30 minutes, including time to warm up.

NCCGB is looking for potential and enthusiasm rather than polished performers, and welcomes singers from all backgrounds.

Bursaries are available to help cover course fees for those who need financial support.

Successful candidates attend two residential choral courses each year, held at Bromsgrove School in Worcestershire during Easter and summer.

Auditions are free and can be booked through the NCCGB website, here: https://www.nccgb.com/joining-us/
