Another night, another hit on Russian energy infrastructure. Footage confirms a strike on the refinery in Makhachkala, Dagestan, part of Ukraine’s ongoing deep-strike campaign against critical oil facilities across Russia.

1. Another cracking column? If so it doesn’t seem to be in operation or there would have been a pretty big fireball after a hit like that

4. Super. What is at the top of the picture at the very end? Another drone or???

5. That looks a lot like a crude distillation column should look like, and that my friends, is targeting excellence. Unless they have multiple crude units (very large refineries often have parallel trains), they are down.

6. That vacuum distillation unit needs a complete replacement. You can’t just weld it together again because it needs to maintain low pressure and even small leaks render it inoperable. Probably the reason why Ukraine targeted it.
