  1. [Ukraine’s ](https://inews.co.uk/topic/ukraine?srsltid=AfmBOorKDH7dfqwY8jN5x4XXRSwnczdaWiQG9NEYGnQY8cvt6DixSgKB&ico=in-line_link)military says it has used UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles in an attack on a chemical plant in Russia.

“A massive combined missile-and-air strike was carried out, including with air-launched Storm Shadow missiles that penetrated Russia’s air defence system,” the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said in a statement on Telegram.

“The results of the strike are being assessed,” it said.

It described the plant, in southern Russia’s Bryansk region, as a “key facility” producing gunpowder, explosives and rocket fuel.

Pictures on social media appeared to show smoke rising.

The Russian Defence Ministry has not confirmed Ukraine’s attack but said in a Telegram post on Tuesday evening that its air defence units destroyed 57 Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk region in the space of four hours.

The ministry rarely reports any damages inflicted by Ukraine in the war that Russia started with its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of Bryansk region, said in a Telegram post that Ukraine was attacking the region with drones and missiles on Tuesday afternoon.

British-made [Storm Shadow missiles](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/british-storm-shadow-missiles-could-have-enormous-impact-on-war-in-ukraine-3273902?srsltid=AfmBOopxd_ahtEHt9m9vWBSO2XUOiZICyM0uEa9mOGvs8s0uQP7LHM5y&ico=in-line_link) were fired into Russia by Ukraine for the first time in November 2024, in defiance of [Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/biden-raised-stakes-ukraine-leave-europe-putin-wrath-3390700?srsltid=AfmBOordvJhVgZHDtS_86pC39UpOt10QH2YrmZwEUHoggpcs14DOAknB&ico=in-line_link).

Around 12 of the long-range missiles were used by Kyiv’s forces in the Kursk region of Russia for the first time.

  2. Russia said if we sent weapons to Ukraine and used them, there would be consequences.

You would think, if there would be consequences, they would have happened.

But they’re not happening. Aside from intrusive drones and the inevitable poking of noses into our elections, nothing bad is happening to any of the countries who supplied Ukraine.

So frankly, we need to stop giving a shit.

  3. Well Russia uses Iranian and North Korean weapons to strike Ukraine so I don’t see why this is an issue.
