Tour operator Up Norway will lead a seven-day women-only Arctic expedition in March.
“Arctic Women, Blazing Trails: A Hosted Women’s Empowerment Trip” will be hosted by Randi Skaug, the first Norwegian woman to reach the top of Mount Everest and complete the Seven Summits, and Hege Enge Dekkerhus, founder of Norwegian Wild, a campsite on the island of Senja.
The seven-night itinerary is March 25 to April 1, bringing the group from Bodo to Senja. The trip can accommodate up to eight women. Prices start at $5,381.
“Blazing Trails is a seven-day conversation with women who have built their lives in the North,” the operator said. “Skaug’s storytelling, equal parts grit and humor, sits in dialogue with Dekkerhus’s focus on presence and wellbeing, encouraging guests to practice tangible skills while exploring what strength can feel like in community. The result is a girls’ getaway with depth: active, intentional and shaped by hosts who live what they teach.”
Travelers will be greeted in Bodo by Skaug, where they will have the opportunity to hear about her adventure summiting Everest. While in Bodo, the women will take a guided cave walk, cook with locally foraged ingredients using traditional Norwegian recipes and Sami methods, and enjoy campfires at night.
From there, the group will take Hurtigruten’s Vesteralen to Senja, Norway’s second-largest island above the Arctic circle, where they will meet with Dekkerhus. While on the island, travelers will go on snowshoe hikes, ice fish and kayak. The group will stay in Nordic cabins.
Following the inaugural departure, the itinerary will be available for custom booking.
