The Rise, Reign, and Fall of American Coal. What drives Trump’s politics is nostalgia for the age when dirty fuel and no environmental regulations created his version of a great America. Nostalgia will likely continue to drive his policies, despite the horrific legacy for workers and the environment

  1. Except nostalgia always refers to a time and place that has never existed in the first place.

  2. Nah, it just the coal/oil industry buying time by lobbying the Trump Administration. If you dig into it, fossil fuel companies are investing in other forms of capital, but it’s tough to move these enormous amounts of money around, especially when countries like Saudia Arabia are doing the same. They are squeezing the last oil out of the oil age, but they aren’t stupid or nostalgic.

  3. Renewable energy companies don’t put dough in tRump pockets.

  4. He’s a senile old man. It is NOT that complicated.

He also wants to build Battleships…a technology that was obsolete in 1942. Aircraft carriers made them obsolete.

Speaking of aircraft carriers, he wants old steam aircraft carrier catapults instead of the modern more efficient electromagnetic catapults.

He thinks wind turbines are inefficient when they are literally the cheapest electricity in the US grid. He calls them windmills when nothing is being milled.

  5. Nostalgia? It’s all about who’s putting the most money in his pockets.

  6. Nostalgia is being used by the GOP. They know exactly what they’re doing and why.

  7. Right, because Trump is mentally ill amd a moron who is not fit for the office of the presidency or any other office in any capacity.
