My sister-in-law was there at the time, she was walking down Hill St when this guy came round the side of the cathedral and then what was on camera basically unfolded at that point. Said it looked like he was having some sort of manic episode or psychotic break.
He has been in the town centre for a while, saluting passing traffic and walking into the road. Very sad, clearly needs help but the police can only do so much.
Feckin hatchet hippies.. it’s good they nipped it in the bud before a real infestation set in.

As an American I found this both humorous and a sad comment on where I’m from as to why it comes across as so absurd to be funny. 🥲

Sounds about right for Newry. Know/knew a few ones from there and they are mental, tho not all are mental in a bad way, like this fella was
