  1. Goodell acknowledged the backlash to Bad Bunny’s selection, reportedly stating he doesn’t think the league has “ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback and criticism. It’s pretty hard to do.”

  2. I love how certain grievance reactionaries act like this wasn’t the case.

Not everything is run as carefully as a Trump administration /s.

  3. Anything that upsets bigots is the right decision. They should never feel comfortable, never feel that the world is the way they want it. There should always be unhappiness and stress in their lives.

  4. I have new respect for NFL leadership for picking an artist that they knew would offend maga after the complaints about last year’s half time show. We need more institutions that do not bend to Trump’s will.

  5. I do not like his music, but I hardly ever like the halftime show music. I don’t understand his lyrics, but I also don’t understand any of the anime opening themes I have saved to my playlists.

I like that they picked him because it’s gonna piss off a bunch of people in red hats and that fills me with joy.

  6. This is such a made up *controversy*. Who genuinely believes that >5% of retrumplicans had ever even heard of Bad Bunny prior to this announcement? They just heard “rap”, saw brown skin, and went straight to default mode

  7. To be honest, I miss the days when the SB halftime show were legends. Not today’s hottest acts. They used to have performers like Prince, MJ, Eagles, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Phil Collins, Motown Tribute, Aerosmith and so many more. Like literally legends that you never got a chance to see live.

  8. I mean, he’s a huge global superstar in music, film, and even wrestling. It’s not shocking that they’d pick him.

Mind you, he’s also an American citizen.

Conservatives weren’t mad that Rihanna ([who is not a US citizen](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-45609656) and [openly criticized Trump](https://www.huffpost.com/entry/rihanna-donald-trump-message-wall_n_5f37b291c5b6959911e50284) multiple times and [sent him a cease and desist for using her music at his rallies](https://apnews.com/article/entertainment-donald-trump-music-rihanna-a3ffbddd80bc0cda999e9ed5878af26b)) did the show a couple of years ago. So it’s almost like they’re just mad because he performs songs only in Spanish.

  9. A multi-billion dollar sports league used careful thought and consideration when selecting a performer for their iconic show during their flagship annual game? No fucking kidding.

Now go fuck yourselves bigots. Nobody’s forcing you to watch it.

  10. I love how most MAGA/Turning Point conservatives don’t want Bad Bunny anywhere near the half time show, but their patriotic alternative is Kid fucking Rock!

I know MAGA has no shame, but I couldn’t look someone in the eye and say “Yeah, we got Kid Rock at our show so we’re boycotting the NFL!” and pretend that’s a flex.

  11. These people are adult babies who can’t comprehend that not everything needs to be for you.

  12. Cleary the NFL is trying to spread to become more worldwide. That is why they are playing games in Europe. Maybe bad bunny is part of them wanting to draw more casual people in who are of latin/spanish descent.

  13. More people in the NFL, especially the (former) players need to do the same.

  14. If they shifted away from him, then they’d alienate moderates to left & it would just about guarantee international along with new audiences don’t engage their brand. The last several decades have shown that conservative hysteria is short & only lasts until their next feelings ouchie.

  15. I mean San Francisco – Metallica. Couldn’t have a more perfect pairing.

  16. People complaining about the Super Bowl performances is just as American as football.

  17. He’s like the biggest pop star in the world and he’s doing the show for free, what’s there to think about

  18. Not a fan at all of Bad Bunny but i’m a rationale citizen and I have a TV clicker. Also, I’m not boycotting or yelling about it!

  19. I haven’t watched the halftime show in years. They can pick kermit the frog for all I care

  20.  you think they  Would like him since they can agree on the fact that they don’t want Puerto Rico to become a state

  21. I haven’t particularly liked a Super Bowl halftime show in probably more than a decade. But you know what? If I don’t like the artist then I just don’t watch. It really is that f****** simple.

  22. Only T.Swift streams more music worldwide than him. While he is not my cup of tea and I don’t know any songs that he sings I still say good for the NFL for landing him. And to all of those people that think we should just keep it to American artists, Puerto Rico is in America, so he is American. They are just upset because he is not the color that they want.

  23. He’s one of the (if not the) top earning musicians in the world right now. It’s not a hard choice at all. Their only concern as a company and a culture is to make a profit, and this will definitely make a profit.

  24. “We weren’t able to get Taylor Swift, so we went with the number two act in the world. Because we want to rake in lots of advertising revenue.”

    Tough process!

  25. Goodell makes decisions that make his bosses (the owners) shit tons of money; this falls into that category

  26. No one had a problem with Bad Bunny when he had breadsticks.

  27. If you don’t think the NFL isnt in on the plan to keep the culture wars stoked then idk what to tell you. The NFL is run by rich conservatives and they want division of the poors wherever they can create it.

  28. Remember this is the same NFL that asked fans on 9/11 for a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk. As oppose to a moment of silence for the victims, survivors, and responders of 9/11; victims of gun violence; and needless death in the country.
