A daytime shot of the great smog of 1952. Coal dust carrying sulphur dioxide turned into sulphuric acid, some 4,000 people died. I was two at the time and got really ill. I survived, obviously, but had a chest x-ray when I was 18 and there was a scar on my left lung from this. The good old days!!
