WANA (Oct 23) – The Israeli National Cyber Directorate (INCD) claimed on Wednesday that Iranian operatives have launched a new wave of cyberattacks in recent weeks targeting critical companies and institutions across the occupied territories.

According to the INCD, one of the main targets was the Shamir Medical Center, where attackers allegedly attempted to disrupt hospital operations but failed.

The agency stated that the recent campaign primarily focused on IT and digital service providers supplying a wide range of businesses in Israel — a strategy known as a “supply chain attack.”

A report by the tech news website Calcalist Tech said that more than ten private companies have been targeted so far.

Investigators reported that in many cases, the attackers gained access to systems using stolen or leaked usernames and passwords, some of which led to data breaches.

The Cyber Directorate said the campaign appeared “designed to cause widespread damage,” but claimed that most of the attacks were thwarted thanks to cooperation between the targeted companies, the directorate itself, the Shin Bet security service, government ministries, and the Israeli military.

Officials further asserted that the investigation into the cyberattack on Shamir Medical Center confirmed Iranian groups were behind the operation. Although the attackers reportedly succeeded in stealing some data, they failed to disrupt medical services.
