Residents in Derby have put up balloons to celebrate 2 years of temporary traffic lights. I love British humour and sarcasm.

  1. There’s a group local to me called “Barrier Fest” it’s about some barriers that have been up for a few years. People
Post photos of them and memes etc

  2. Just get rid of them if you don’t want then there.

  3. The local road traffic management company must be making a killing out of that contract.

  4. We’ve got temp traffic lights near bearsted that are 6/7 years old at a guess? They used to be on my commute to work, then stopped working there but since my girlfriend lives down that way I came down and was flabbergasted they were still up! Some nob heads sometimes piss about with the settings and put them on like a 1 second switch timer or make the red last ages so traffic goes stupidly bonkers on an already shit traffic area.

  5. We’ve got a set in Witham, Essex that celebrated their 10th birthday with a cake earlier this year

  6. 2 years! Silk Road in cheshire has had one for years and the fix isnt even scheduled!

  7. Yeah, I live near here. It’s all a bit of a mess. The Council won’t fix it as it’s on Private land but the owners won’t fix it as it’s really, really expensive. Apparently, local builders have offered to fix it for free but they were declined (for reasons?). There’s the exact same situation on the other side of town as well at Stenson Road. Slowly, it seems, our roads and pavements are going to be eaten up by slipping Stone Walls.

  8. Not far from me, there was a sizeable hole in the road with a water leak that was there for well over a year before being fixed. Last year the locals put a small, decorated Christmas tree in it.

  9. A few years back someone crashed into the openreach FTTC cabinet near me and knocked out everyone’s broadband for over a month. After a week people were attaching flowers to the temporary barrier with notes mourning their internet connections.

  10. I guess all traffic lights are temporary a geological scale.

  11. Mickleover in Derby. I live down the road from there. As far as I understand, there’s a bit of a dispute about who is liable for the repairs to the wall.
