Mongolia is facing a fuel crisis due to Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries. Russia used to supply 95% of Mongolia’s fuel imports. But now, with a complete ban on gasoline exports from Russia, fuel has practically disappeared in Mongolia.

  1. Well next time putin visits your country, arrest his ass please.

  2. That’s what happening when you are member of International Criminal Court and you allows putin to visit your country.

  3. It already sucks to be russias or chinas neighbour, but to be sandwiched between the two. 🤮

  4. Those that are in the queue are running their motors and consuming a lot of fuel just idling. Their lights are on and likely have their heaters operating to stay warm. I suspect quite a few will run out of gas before they get to the pump and will need to push their vehicles.

  5. stuck between a rock and a hard place has always characterized the geopolitical location of Mongolia.

    this must be maddening.

  6. These Ukrainian tariffs are going to be great for promoting EVs.

  7. Putin will recruit them to fight for him in Ukraine. “They’re killing you!”

  8. Side note

For all those who deny the benefits of e-mobility: this is what happens when you are dependent on oil.

  9. They could have and should have invested in their own oil refineries sooner. They have oil, but they currently export the crude to China. Mongolia is currently building their own refinery, too.

Given China’s thirst for gasoline, they should have started petrol production way sooner in order to capitalize on that market. It doesn’t make sense why they didn’t did. I guess cheap Russian gas was too easy to pass up.

Massive oversight on Mongolia’s behalf. I don’t pity them for relying on Putin when there is no need for them to do so. They did this to themselves.

  10. Lukashenko said it was because people are drinking coffee inside and are not moving their cars

  11. The population of Mongolia is about 3.5 million, with about 1.4 million residing in the capital city Ulaanbaatar, so this basically cripples half the country.

  12. The mongol horde went through Russia as a hot knife through butter… how times have changed.

  13. Buy an old car with diesel engine, it runs fine on cooking oil and even used engine oil. The process of filtering used oil is not complex. In most cases though you can just fill sunflower oil or rapeseed oil directly from bottle to fuel tank when it comes to these engines with minimal (or no) modifications. I don’t know about olive oil never heard anyone trying it.

  14. They should have been more organised in obtaining fuel from another country that wasn’t invading it’s neighbour or didn’t they have the intelligence to do that or was it because they was scared of upsetting Putin and his war machine 😳🤣

  15. Can’t really blame them tbh, they’re sandwiched and landlocked between two autocratic regimes. They are forced to play both sides to keep their country afloat, I feel sorry for my Mongol brothers. It’s a miracle in itself that they still manage to be democratic

  16. The shortages are due to ‘unscheduled maintenance’ I wonder if he believes that

  17. Well, perhabs they should have considered the risks before deciding to continue on Russian oil…. I mean Europe was in the same dependency but have a least made themselves more or less free of Russian oil…

  18. “due to unscheduled repairs at oil refineries, there is a ban on gasoline exports” unscheduled repairs 😀

kinetic sanctions on russian rafinieries are working and spilling out of russia and impacting russias allies. this is great.

  19. Jesus give us a second to read the text you put up there or shorten it.

  20. This is the time to step up and show Mongola that they can get petrol from other places. Ensure that they never look back by offering way better quality for the same price type of deal.

  21. Dear Mongolians,
Please invade Russia to liberate your brothers to your North. Russia has colonised them long enough! When you do, you can take some of their oil fields and refineries. We will support you.
    With respect,
    The civilised world

  22. Mongolians with electric cars would be glad they have them instead of…

  23. No fuel, and plenty of electricity 🤔 It’s no wonder China is leading in EV technology and infrastructure. Just another layer of robustness they are building after learning from the mistakes of others.

  24. And let me guess … They still believe it’s because a lot of people are going on vacation. 😂

  25. Is it me or is the only vehicle in Russia basically a Toyota Prius?

  26. looks like mongols needs to diversify their oil imports from russia to Kazakhstan and China.

  27. “due to unscheduled repairs at oil refineries”

    Hmmm lol

  28. It’s time for the horde to start raiding the russian steppe once again!

  29. They’re single most hopelessly placed country in the world either trade with russia or china with no alternatives
