The problem with this is that these companies will still write this off on their taxes and probably get all of it back.
The Allen Center at the White House presented by T-Mobile.
Being private funded is so problematic.
However, forcing the taxpayers to pay Trump 230million, and then having Trump pay directly for the ballroom, is worse.
It has all the problematic conflict of interest, while having the taxpayers paying for it indirectly. With a sprinkle of private funds.
It’s a runaround and feels corrupt, and may be illegal, if the court finds the DOJ payout illegal….
Can you guys mobilize a general strike yet please?
Trumps wallet never appears when the bill comes.
I’d be happier if they had their signs built on the outside. At least then everyone would know and it wouldn’t just be the fact that they’re paying 0.001% of their yearly revenue for billions of dollars of saved tax revenue as well as being able to walk through red tape for monopolistic mergers, land acquisition, and resource exploitation.
Why do Republicans go on about how awesome it is for private companies to be donating stuff to our government.
Are we a serious nation or a banana Republic?
$250,000,000 Ballroom while Trump demands $230,000,000 as personal payment from the DOJ. Hmm reminds me of how ICE is paying $50,000 sign up bonuses then claiming the Cartels are placing $50,000 bounties on ICE Agents.
Weird that the $300 million dollar bunker, I mean ballroom, that Trump is “privately” funding is happening at the same time he ordered his DOJ to give him $230 million of our tax dollars for damages even though he wasn’t damaged as the trump family has actually doubled its wealth this year.
I get that it’s worse however no future President will tear it down.
It’s so distressing how many people are being willfully obtuse on how bribes work.
“These corporations aren’t bribing the president, they’re simply donating millions of dollars to the pet project of someone who can choose how regulated them and their industries are!”
I really do think they’re handwaving this away at least partially because they’re living a power fantasy vicariously through him, and would *love* to get millions of dollars from companies in exchange for just signing off on the things they want.
They run pictures of the wreckage all day long on MSNBC, while rarely issuing a disclaimer that their parent company Comcast is donating to make it happen. Basically “This is so horrible we thought we should help fund it.”
Something something George Soros, right MAGA?
2028 day one. Fine every one of these companies the cost of completely removing this monstrosity and restore every square in to completely wipe this president’s sh#t stain away.
I can’t even accept a gift from a grateful parent of a kid I work with that’s more than $30 without risking my license as a healthcare worker.
I know and am glad we are talking about it here but I feel like way too many people aren’t realizing it.
They dont get how thats worse. Borrow your Maga uncles car and have it repainted with dragon ballz characters then when he gets upset say hey you didnt have to pay for it.
Won’t pay taxes. Won’t pay decent wages. But we have plenty of money to ruin the country.
I’m all anti-Cheeto but this is factually incorrect.
Most of these companies donated to the Mall Renovation Fund/Trust for the National Mall, not to Cheeto’s Ballroom.
Trump re-appropriated those funds for his own purposes.
Like a sports stadium. Trump will sell the naming rights, and pocket the cash.
The Amazon Ballroom
There is no way that budget, that has grown by 50% this past week, won’t at some point become the taxpayer’s budget. They will simply build half the project and leave it like that and unless the taxpayer chimes in it will remain half build.
They should put logos of the companies that funded it on the ballroom, like NASCAR.
Does anyone genuinely believe there won’t be ads on it 24x7x365? On bigly yuuge screens visible from space?
