Cyprus will promote all EU tourism

Cyprus intends not only to promote itself as a tourism destination when it holds the presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2026, but also to promote tourism in the bloc in general, raising the stature of the island among its peers.

With that in mind, Cyprus’ Deputy Minister for Tourism Kostas Koumis traveled to Brussels this week and held important meetings with European officials, focusing on the sustainability, competitiveness and resilience of the European tourism ecosystem, 10 weeks before Nicosia assumes the EU presidency.

At the meetings with European Commission officials, Koumis presented the main priorities of the Cypriot president next year regarding tourism, and shared ideas about the timely and effective preparation for undertaking the presidency of the EU tourism council, comprising Koumis’ counterparts.

The Cypriot minister stressed the significance of close cooperation with all the institutional bodies of the EU, for the optimum result of the Cypriot presidency.

Koumis also participated in an exhibition, aimed at promoting the Cypriot destination to the Belgian market.
