Covid news Germany: What now?

  1. Well, instead of just looking at the headlines, you need to read both those articles and figure out where they’re getting their figures from and how they might have reached apparently different conclusions.

  2. I mean, “viele” is not an exact qualifier in contrast to “the majority” or “[x]%”. So yeah, both headlines can be wishy washy true at the same time, depending on the authors’ definitions of “many”.

  3. People make this out as a desaster, but it’s not as bad as it sounds. If a higher percentage of people are vaccinated, a higher percentage of people in hospitals are also vaccinated (just to be clear: over 60% are vaccinated, but only 10% of people in hospitals are vaccinated).

People need to realise 2 things:
    1. Vaccination doesn’t mean immunity.
    2. So called “vaccination breakthrough” (getting sick even when vaccinated) is more likely the more people aren’t vaccinated. In other words: the more are vaccinated, the better the protection.

  4. If 100% of the population was vaccinated, 100% of COVID deaths would be among the vaccinated, but we will never get the general public to understand basic statistics, especially not when media organizations are scummy and don’t understand it themselves.
