Norway Enhances Ukrainian Navy Capabilities with Critical Support

The Kingdom of Norway makes a significant contribution to the Ukrainian Navy’s capabilities by providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with critically important resources and equipment.

According to Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, the Ukrainian Navy’s commander, in a Facebook post summarizing his meeting with Rune Andersen, the head of the Joint Forces of the Kingdom of Norway, during his visit to Ukraine, specific steps to strengthen the fleet were discussed.

«I had a meeting with the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Kingdom of Norway, Vice Admiral Rune Andersen, during his visit to Ukraine… The Kingdom of Norway makes a significant contribution to the development of the Ukrainian Navy’s capabilities. In particular, it provides critically important resources – from modern small boats and mine-countermeasure equipment to the training and education of Ukrainian personnel. We discussed concrete steps that will contribute to the further strengthening of our fleet. We share a common vision of the resources and technologies the Navy needs now and which will be decisive in the long term,» Neizhpapa said.

Security Outlook and Next Steps

According to Neizhpapa, separate discussions addressed the security situation in the Azov-Black Sea region and ways to expand maritime cooperation.

The Commander of the Ukrainian Navy expressed gratitude to Norwegian colleagues for their ongoing support since the start of the full-scale invasion and for the fruitful cooperation within the Coalition of Maritime Capabilities.

They also report that Norway will continue to provide Ukraine with substantial military, financial, and humanitarian aid in 2026 at the same level as this year.

Steps in partnership with Norway strengthen Ukraine’s defense potential and support stability in the region.
