The No Kings Day Project Must Evolve From Protest to Civil Disobedience

1. We need Obstruction To Commerce.

   All previously successful protest movements have been obstructive to commerce.

   Stop picking up garbage and supporting businesses on the way to and away from these “rallies.”

   Pay Attention to History.

2. Vote with your dollars everyone.  Boycott the companies that support Trump!

3. Holiday season is upon us, cut way back, or don’t participate in the same ways. Save your money and go super small. We have plenty of power by not spending on non-essentials.

4. Just remember to counter fire with water, not fire.

   Love Unites, Fear Divides. Saw it on a bumper sticker.

   Fear is the enemy. Start asking what people are afraid of.

   The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

No huge protests are in fact really good, since it shows to everyone in the country that they are not alone in their opposition to the Fascists, it gives heart to our friends and allies overseas, and disproves Trump’s claims that he represents a plurality of America. Plus, these were some of the biggest protests in US history, lets keep things classy and force the enemy to overreach

   The numbers are growing based on the discontent of people experiencing or witnessing the damage of Trump’s policies.

   The ideological based participants were the first to join; what’s left of that group is waiting for the administration’s facade of legitimacy to collapse.

   It hasn’t, even if the train is storming right towards it.

   For now, the more that join, the more that’ll have a stake and understanding of an actual institutional collapse.

   Let it build organically — pull the trigger too soon or too late and it fails. Connections, community, and confidence will better prepare us *if* that moment comes.

8. This is what I’ve been saying this whole time and getting downvoted for it.

9. It already is in the works. Been attending Zoom meetings. Join No Kings and Indivisible. Sat was a act of disobedience, no permits were issued to close streets. We shut them down anyway with cops watching.

10. The Jan. 6 crew smeared poop in the capital, smashed windows, Trump called them patriots and pardoned them all. No kings offered up a seven million strong peaceful protest, and trump pretended to poop on them and called them terrorists.

    Take note of the differences people. I don’t want to be divided anymore. But we will never follow that man. I will never understand why racism and poop, is preferable to actually building a better country.

    Thanks no kings. You guys are real patriots.

11. My favorite is how everyone going to this “protest” was really encouraging everyone else to minimize themselves as much as possible and not be a nuisance to anyone. That’s not a protest. 

    Modern Americans have a looong way to go. Generations have foregoed civil disobedience in exchange for comfort and now they don’t even know how to be disobedient.

13. What does civil disobedience today look like exactly? Not as straight forward as sitting in the front of the bus.

14. A nationwide strike would work but the fact that 50%+ of people live paycheck to paycheck makes that next to impossible

15. It also needs to really start organizing on getting people registered to vote and help making plans for voting.

    We can’t strike our way out of this – they’ve gamed that system too – we’ll go hungry and lose our homes.

    We can’t reason our way out of this – their supporters are too far gone; incapable of reason; it’s a death cult.

17. We’ll know it’s discontentment has reached a peak when the farmers start dumping loads of manure around the White House, or what’s left of it by that time.

18. I don’t think the protests are directed at Trump and his cronies. I view the protests as targeting other leaders, the ones with conscience, to give them strength in fighting against this fascist administration. I want them to know 7 million of us have their backs, and I hope that number grows.

19. Do it on a weekday so businesses lose money. Keep doing it and they’ll pay attention.

20. The civil disobedience I’m planning for is when a Nationwide Strike is called. Got plenty saved up to last me a couple years if needed, and if a strike is called I plan on helping feed others who strike, but can’t really afford to like I can. They will be more brave than I am.

21. The things that would work is just refusing to pay taxes for 2 years as a group. If half the population just stopped interacting with the tax system the whole thing would collapse and you could fix it. Along with paying taxes and providing healthcare, education as a standard. You would completely change the course of your country once those who benifit come to age. 

    If half the country said “fuck off” you guys could fix this. The government currently doesn’t have the staff to even attempt going after 160 million people. 

    Even a general strike would crush the current dictator. Just do it already, stop it today. 

22. Civil disobedience is literally how every major civil rights movement gained traction. The point is not to break law but to expose how broken the laws are

23. I feel like these protests are useless. People dressing in costume with cutesy signs so they can post virtual signaling pictures to their social media is having no effect at all. You want solutions? Start boycotting everything. Stop shopping at any company that supports this loser. Organize national walk outs and strikes for extended days. Stage sit-ins for extended periods of time at gov’t offices. Mobilize to red states instead of having 2million people in liberal enclaves and 50,000 in the deep red states. This government needs to be brought to its knees, not called bad names on a weekend with everyone going back to work Monday morning talking about how wonderful they are for protesting.

24. Actually, no. If we want to bring this mess to a stop, we stop spending money. Oligarchs are made with money. Money talks. How many days of a general strike do you think it would take to provoke action in this country? I am guessing maybe four or five. We don’t even need to be stressed when we do it. Just generally stop shopping but still go get the emergencies and start scaring the people with the money. That and stop using the tech platforms that made these people rich. It really is just that simple. Stop spending money for a few days. We vote with our dollars. But is anyone going to do that? Nope.
