  1. The problem was and remains that the Russian soldiers don’t die for Moscow, they die for big wads of cash that their families get (or are supposed to get). If that funding dries up, so will the recruiting.

  2. They slashed benefits. Honestly I think they are headed towards conscription. 

  3. Maybe not for free, but they have shown a lot of gusto when the price was right.

    Another question – can you imagine Ukrainians going off to kill people for money, especially those who were their “minority brothers” under Russia in the Soviet Union just a few years ago?

    Fuck these people.
