In order to do that you’re supposed to go through a multi-step process to get the ok, but he ignored every single requirement about making alterations. It’s not “HIS” house its the fucking people’s house. It’s just sad so many people are okay with this.   31. Eisenhower so enjoyed ‘The Big Country’ starring Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons and Charlton Heston that he screened it there for four consecutive nights, describing the film as ‘perfect’.

    Nixon used to screen films most nights, though not caring much about what was actually shown. If his family started to criticise the film he would placate them by saying ‘Give it another five minutes’ as a standing paternal joke.

    It clearly has historical significance and should have been restored tastefully if it needed it.
