SALT LAKE CITY – The Hercules Salt Lake County High School Player of the Week is celebrating the best high school football player in Salt Lake County. Presented by Hercules First Federal Credit Union, each week we honor athletes for their exceptional performance on the gridiron. Our winner this week was West High School running back Louie Hamilton.
Salt Lake County Player of the Week – Louie Hamilton, West
Hamilton and the West Panthers made the drive out to Magna for their regular season finale against Cyprus High School in Region 4 action. West went on the offensive from the opening kickoff as they piled up a 27-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. The tacked on another four touchdowns in the second quarter as they took a 55-6 lead into halftime.
West emerged from locker room and added two more touchdowns in the third quarter before pulling their starters and inserting their reserves with a 69-6 lead. Hamilton was electric with 14 carries for 186 yards and five touchdowns rushing while adding three receptions for 67 yards and another score in the rout. West finished the regular season with a 9-1 record and the Region 4 title.
