  1. The impressive cooperation between Israel and India continues. Israel Weapons Industries and Adani’s PLR Systems will supply the Indian Army with 425,000 CQB 5.56 mm carbine rifles in a roughly $3.3 billion program.

The contract splits roughly 40% of the volume (Around $1.32b) to the Katsav–Adani JV and about 60% to Bharat Forge, and is structured under India’s “Make in India” rules requiring significant local content (50–60%).

The deal demonstrates the growing India–Israel defense cooperation (India was Israel’s top defense export destination in 2020–2024) and fits New Delhi’s push for defense self-reliance as well.

India is also exploring other Israeli systems such as the LORA long-range missile to bolster stand-off strike capability versus Pakistan.

  2. India has shown that their procurement ends up in a terrible maelstrom of incompetence about 70% of the time so hopefully for them this one doesn’t given the foreign expertise involved

  3. I’ll never understand how India completely fails to produce any defense domestically.

Maybe they should take a page out of China’s book, and just start bribing people for secrets and stealing/reverse engineering stuff then use that as a stepping stone for domestic products
