No pay means that federal workers have been turning to resources, like food banks, to make ends meet in this current moment.

  1. My heart goes out for the federal workers who never supported this and are now being affected. For those who supported it, I hope they have the day they voted for, and if they didn’t vote same to them.

  2. Massive SUV, doesn’t have enough put away to survive without 1 paycheck. Speaks volumes about people’s poor budgeting.

  3. Federal food bank subsidies were already cut.

Next week they have to be in line with 80M SNAP shoppers as those benefits are halted.

There is no scenario where the food banks can serve that many people. That’s the Covid vaccine in stadium parking lots scenario of food aid, with a continuous string of supply semi trucks. Almost no states have those resources.

Not to mention what happens to the stores. Lost customers = lost sales = layoffs and store closures. It’s a small margin business.

  4. Of all the people in our country it’s hard for me to sympathize with fed workers. The federal workers avg salary is $106k a year. They get pensions after 5 years and federal employee healthcare program.
They get health, life and FSA funds in retirement all paid by guess who? The taxpayers.
If you have ever dealt with a federal worker you probably have noticed the lack of customer service most of them are just trying to do bare min so they can get that pension. If you make $106k and your set in retirement you should be able to store away a few cans of tuna a loaf of bread and beans and rice to weather the storm.
