Japan, fuck off would you kindly? That Japan forced women from occupied territories to become prostitues for the Japanse army is a well-recognized fact, except for Abe’s party – who the Japanese PM is a member of.
We haven’t had a Leader for almost 80 years.
Since the local branch of the SPD was one of the parties that supported the statue being put up, and the federal government has no influence over local administrations in this matter, even *if* Scholz wanted to do something, he simply couldn’t.
And I’m fairly certain that he has no interest in aiding Japan in their attempt at glossing over their repulsive past in the first place.
That statue isn’t going anywhere.
As if it isn’t bad enough that the Japanese government still hasn’t issued a formal apology for the victims and still pretty much continues to deny these atrocities. Complaining about a statue in a foreign country made to remember the women who suffered at the hands of Japanese soldiers. Fucking hell.
Japan need to take a leaf out of Germanys book when it comes to dealing with the atrocities your country did during the Second World War. Instead they do this shit.
Japan knows no shame when the subject is WWII.
This seems to be an example of missing out on Vergangenheitsbewältigung.
So if the statue results in a confrontation with the past, it proudly fulfills its duty and needs to stay.
Germany is probably the last country that would help with this request. Silly Japanese.
One step closer to signing the modern version of Anti-comintern pact, but now with full backing from westies.
Ah yes, japan. Another country, that still hasn’t been able to admit and deal with crimes committed by their ancestors.
