What a day for ranged weaponry.
I say we meet them in Calais for round 1005 this weekend
If you’ve got Brian Blessed to shout on your side it’s going to be a good day
What, we stopped throwing them a fete?
“Tennis balls, my liege.”
*The King* has a good portrayal of the battle
Worth noting lots of Welshmen were there as the prized longbowmen
Is that Gilderoy Lockhart on the horse?
I was today years old when I found out that Saint Crispin and Crispinian were two people. I always thought that Shakespeare just wrote it down wrong. 😑
All those years of income tax to prepare for the next war… we’re going to fucking rinse them.
And last Tuesday was Trafalgar day … quite a week
Did you just call my manhood cheap? Harsh…
There’s Mark Rylance’s version which is altogether different. Not better, I don’t think anyone’s bettered Kenneth Branagh’s version (not even Sir Larry) but it’s worth a watch.

Why is the battle of Crecy not celebrated as is Agincourt, preceding it as a longbow principle, perhaps because Edward changed the rules for knights and commoners, and mounted knight superiority ended there.
Go on lads. Tally ho. Fuck them up.
…on Ralf the Liar’s day!!!!
On the rest is history they said the English fired 75,000 arrows at the French in the first minute of battle. How mental is that.
The battle was fought near the River Somme, foreshadowing of the battle in 1916 some 500 years later. Don’t read about the Battle of the Somme, it’s too horrific, btw 🙁
I’m so glad you posted this version of the speech, it is so so good as well as the music that supports it.
The scene after the battle is such a belter too

I’m on the tube, got a bit hot, so rolled up my sleeves and showed my scars, and said “These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.”
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, but I then remembered I had fallen asleep last night while eating a KitKat Chunky, had a sniff & lick, and yes it was actually the rememanents of one.
Shout out to the Welsh longbows,
Who before terrorising the French,
Terrorised the English
*adjusts nerd glasses* Was it on this day though? Hasn’t the calendar changed since then
The Welsh longbowmen were absolute legends on that field. It’s crazy to think how much that single piece of tech changed the course of the battle. You really have to wonder how different history would be without them.
Young Christian Bale at the front there.
Brian Blessed shout +50 to all stats of all allied units in range. -100 to all enemy units in range
Have you posted this in r/France?

No hard feelings on the French side – they have a Rue Henry V running through the site
Was that a young Christian Bale???
These Facebook memories are getting ridiculous
