TotalEnergies announced on Saturday that it has lifted the force majeure status on its liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Mozambique, informing the Mozambican presidency of the decision on Friday.

“Before the project can fully restart, the Council of Ministers of Mozambique must approve an addendum to the development plan, which will include the updated budget and timeline,” the group told Reuters.

The French energy giant had declared force majeure on the $20 billion project in 2021 following a series of attacks.

In early October, Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo stated that the conditions were now in place for TotalEnergies’ LNG project in the country to resume.
