  10. Trump desperately needs to create a false story to use as an excuse to disqualify (or possibly even cancel) elections in blue states. After a blue landslide they will use stuff like this as an excuse to refuse to certify those elected and disqualify anything and anyone they don’t like.

    It’s like what we have been telling people, you might be able to vote, but only those winners this admin likes will actually “win”. If a rep wins, they will say that part of the election was fair. If a dem wins, they will rant and rave about how that candidate rigged and stole the election and will then refuse to certify and install them in office or will find excuses to disqualify them. Then it will be off to the camps for that candidate so they don’t cause any issues.

    This is just them doing the prep work to rig future elections. Why go to all the trouble and expense of changing voting machines when all you need to do is scream election rigging and refuse to acknowledge the winners?

  11. What if we organized a national strike/work stoppage for the midterms which it looks like he is gearing up to steal. This would give us a year to get a plan together.

    Trump is gearing up for a revolution. He’s weaponizing ICE, but if we quit buying, quit working, we could bloodlessly hurt them in their pocketbooks. He can’t make everyone go to work.

    And what if we could convince a non partisan group of people, maybe Bill, Hi!lary, George, Obama to head this. (It would be a great way for Bill to redeem his reputation.)

    We would also have to organize some relief for people who would be hurt by this the most. Beyond food banks, we would need rent and mortgage relief.

    And, we would need an ultimatum. What do we want exactly. Trump and Vance to step down. Trump to be charged.

  12. This is the plan. People are scared Trump will cancel the elections, but that won’t work because of the uproar. This is why many authoritarian regimes don’t cancel them.

    Instead, you rig them. Give people the illusion of a voice. It’s much easier to control if people believe their vote matters.

  15. He should request the UN to send election monitors to watch the DOJ poll monitors. Just the notion itself would speak volumes.

  16. He’s run a grift for years and pulled the GOP into the MAGA orbit. “President for life” only happens if we sit out—so don’t. Register, vote early, volunteer, document intimidation, and back officials who’ll certify lawful results.

  17. The Republicans have been increasingly showing they don’t fundamentally believe in liberal democracy. They have actively suppressed the voice of the people, and when the people disagree, they view that as a failure of the system, not their ideas. This has not started with Trump, but has ramped up to an unsustainable degree.

  20. I can only suggest that if Trump sends goons to intimidate voters, that Newsome takes appropriate steps to mitigate it, while also exposing it for what it is. So disappointed it has come to this.

  22. I am not American and I hope I don’t offend too many people by saying this but America is really getting what it deserves here. Trump made no secret at all during the 2025 campaign about what he would do if he got in office, and people still voted for him in the tens of millions.

    Everyone who voted for him has no problem with America becoming a dictatorship and everyone who did not vote is either too apathetic or too stupid to feel much sympathy for either.

    A country needs to work to maintain its democracy and it is pretty clear as a whole America no longer cares to even try.

  23. We should get a petition drive going to demand UN monitoring of the next few elections, that requires states to follow up and investigate anything they flag as suspect. If there isn’t a strong correlation between exit poll results and election results, those should be investigated thoroughly prior to the election being certified.

  24. Federal poll monitors will be the least of it. ICE will probably be outside of every polling location harassing voters and trying to start trouble.

  26. When he was on tape asking someone to ‘find’ 10.000 votes, that should have been the end of him. When trying to cheat in an election doesn’t get you disqualified there’s not much hope for democracy.

    We cant live side by side these people. It’s us or them and they are winning because they have been willing to kill us while we keep talking about peace.

  32. This is the wrong mentality. Trump can barely do anything. This is an entire administration and a political party doing this. He’s just the brainless stuffed suit frontman. Quit focusing on one person and allowing the legion of others to get away with this.

  33. For those that didn’t read the article, this is the part that should stand out to everyone:

    >“The presence of election observers is not unusual and is a standard practice across the country,” Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan said in a statement. “Federal election monitors, like all election observers, are welcome to view election activities at designated locations to confirm transparency and integrity in the election process. California has very clear laws and guidelines that support observation and prohibit election interference.”

    Dean Logan is an actual expert on elections and serves on the Board of Directors for the National Election Center and as an advisor to the MIT Election Data Science Lab.

    Newsom is right, this is being set up to be used at pretext so the Trump admin can start beating the drum on “stop the steal” type shit again but these observers won’t have access to ballots, the equipment, or have any part in pre/post election audits.
