BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Idaho Capital Sun reports that Idaho’s DOGE Task Force is set to recommend potential eliminations of state employee positions and the repeal or merger of agencies, boards, and commissions.
The task force, named after the federal Department of Government Efficiency, voted in Boise to allow co-chairs to present information on long-term vacancies to state budget writers at the November interim budget meeting.
Co-Chair Rep. Jeff Ehlers, R-Meridian, stated that members would evaluate data from legislative staff and hear from agency heads to make recommendations at the next meeting. The task force can study issues and provide recommendations, but it cannot pass legislation.
Recommendations will be sent to the relevant legislative committee for consideration and a vote before proceeding through the Idaho House and Senate.
