This sounds like a pretty big deal. The original panel didn’t object to having their order paused. That suggests the two Trump-appointed judges on it were pissed off. Judges really do hate being lied to and made to look like credulous fatheads.
What? Trump and his lackeys *lied?!* I am shocked…*shocked* I tells ya!
The magaverse media sieve will separate these facts from reality, as they do with all inconvenient truths.
The trump klan will call it lies, fake news, activist judges, etc.. And the right wing echo chamber will pick it up as the preferred narrative, and the maga base will stay happymad.
How many DOJ attorneys will be disbarred because of Trump?
> “get caught lying”
Isn’t that perjury or contempt of court?
Why arent those attorneys being sanctioned by the court, referred to the bar, and held in contempt and put in holding?
Let’s hope they do something about it. Start fucking callling all of their phone numbers! Texting emailing. Blow them up. Keep standing up.
TL;DR:
The administration said they redeployed 115 Federal Protective Service officers to Portland, and the ninth circuit based their ruling on that figure.
A few days after the ruling, Oregon officials discovered the numbers were actually between 20 and 30.
Legal articles are so hard to follow. Any folks fluid in legalese want to eli5?
My interpretation is Monday these judges allowed troops on the ground based on a lie from the DOJ (shocked /s). Thursday it was discovered they lied, so the 3 judges undid the thing that temporarily allowed troops in Portland again.
What I think I’m fuzzy on is how the lie mattered. It sounds like they claimed >100 troops were there, so judges allowed them Monday. In reality only 20ish were actually there, so now judges say they aren’t allowed? What difference does the number make in this case? Or does the number not matter, the judges were only mad they were lied to?
Either way, sounds like a small win for the good guys.
I thought he was a King?
Everything out this administrations mouth needs to be fact checked constantly. The example and bar they’re setting for any type of American political leadership is so disastrously low and corrupt that it is quite breaking the country. Where the hell is the revolution?
