Moien,

This is a weird question, so please bear with me. My current apartment has automatic switches to pull the rolling shutters up/down. It looks [like this, for reference.](https://ibb.co/ZWGdvSH)

I am noticing air gaps in the switches, meaning that cold air is blown into the apartment, especially when it’s windy.

Would someone know what’s my best (pocket friendly) option to plug this gap? I’m just thinking of taping it with a simple tape, but not sure if that’s the best idea.

Thank you in advance.

  1. hmm if air blows through,
there might be a more severe problem (not fixable with duct tape),
contact the one who constructed the building or contact the syndicate there might be other units with the same problem .

  2. The electric cable goes inside a larger plastic pipe from the switch to the shutter engine, and air comes from there. The flow might be increased due to ventilation (e.g. air suckers). This might happen with similar pipes that connect to the outside, such as electric sockets, ethernet plugs, etc.

You can disasemble the switch and add some crushed paper around the electric cable inside the plastic pipe.

Or buy some insulating foam (aerosol) and spray it inside the plastic pipe. Better opening a window until it dries, so that the airflow is reduced and seals better.
