2. Trump Raised Tariffs on Canada by 10%

The U.S. President Donald Trump said he had decided to raise the current tariffs on Canadian goods by another 10%. He wrote this on Truth Social.

According to Trump, the move is connected to the “twisting of facts and hostile actions” by Canada.

He accused Ottawa of financing ads in the United States with clips from Ronald Reagan’s speech, which allegedly distort his position on tariffs. He also noted that Canada is counting on help from the U.S. Supreme Court to challenge the tariffs, which, in his words, “have harmed the United States for many years.”

Context: earlier, the province of Ontario launched an advertising campaign demanding the repeal of the tariffs imposed by Trump. Meanwhile, the U.S. Supreme Court is preparing to review the legality of the administration’s tariff policy.

According to Trump, the meeting could take place only when it becomes clear that the sides are ready to reach an agreement.

«You should know that we are going to make a deal. I am not going to waste my time»

It should be noted that Trump had previously expressed expectations for peace and repeatedly stressed that a meeting with Zelenskiy in Washington could bring the war closer to an end.
