Well, we're back onto GMT now, so I hope you all remembered to adjust your timepieces accordingly. What will you be doing with yourselves this fine day? I've got some nice pieces of oxtail to make a soup for lunch, which is just the sort of thing I like when the weather turns colder. What are your plans?

My toddler who normally wakes up at 5:30 came to wake me up at 4:30 am so that has been great fun! We’re going over to my parents for a roast later though so that will make up for it…
Tucking into a bacon, egg and black pudding sandwich. I’m on youth work in church this morning so planned a taskmaster like thing.
Then going to come back and play sea of thieves more than likely.
Very appreciative of the extra hour last night
Woke up freezing as didn’t change the time on the thermostat before we went to bed (we have it set higher in the morning so it’s less painful to leave bed). Dog whining in my face for breakfast. Happy Sunday.
Will take said pup out for his long Sunday walk soon, then nothing planned for later. We’ve been invited to a Halloween thing next weekend and I’ve decided I’m going to try and dress the dog up like the Pokemon Houndoom. I’m not very crafty but I’ve bought the materials now so going to have to give it a go.
Busy week ahead of us. Partner’s a teacher so on half term and I’ve taken the week as leave. I think Friday is the only day we don’t have something planned, which is quite unusual for us.
Got a light 10k jog planned after yesterday 10 miler
Today I will be changing the clocks on the microwave and oven, going to Booths for breakfast, buying pet food and then starting a few bits of Christmas shopping.
The afternoon will consist of catching up on the celeb Traitors from last week, playing Outer Worlds 2 and eating bowlfuls of mini cheddars.

Reminiscent of a lazy Sunday stroll I took in 1997, or maybe ’98.
Dog walk (long ish one today), housework, potentially some baking, making work lunches and then making present plans for Christmas.
Can I ask where this lovely view is from?
Our travel plans went off the rails and we’ve found ourselves sat in London for the morning with no plans – we’re staying near Tower Bridge, and this looks like a view from somewhere near Greenwich, which we could possibly manage.
thanks and cheers!
Ahh, one of my favourite views, that. And only about a 20 minute walk from my house too.
Today, I shall be heading off to Makro to get bulk rice and pasta in (might also cheekily get some bulk Tunnocks as well), then rotissereing a chicken for dinner later on.
In between, a bit of cleaning, a bit of leisurely strolling around Greenwich Park in the sunshine and maybe a trip to the market to see if anything catches my eye as potential Christmas presents.
Totally intend to chill today, had a very busy day yesterday and am paying for it a little today.
Been for a walk, it was very odd walking in early daylight rather than the dark (I get up at 5am to avoid people) but my “not my cat” cats were still pleased to see us, even though we were an hour late.
Going to have breakfast, go for a swim then home to do as little as I can get away with.

From my very cold walk this morning.
I’ve got my monthly trip to the office tomorrow, and along with it it’s my turn to bake for the work bake-off. As I had my practise session last weekend, this weekend it’s time for the real thing 🍪
Today I will mostly be monitoring my antibiotic intake- I’ve done an awful job of remembering to take 1, 4 times a day and have more left than I should.
Might play some Skyrim, cook dinner then off to the pub quiz for the last time before they shut it down.
Woke up, reset the oven and microwave clocks. Ten minutes later: power cut. Have yet to set them again.
My backs really hurting from work yesterday so today I called in sick. Now I feel guilty and think I should just get through it even though I know people have called in sick for less. I hate this stupid guilt complex.
I am seeing all of my kids and grandkids today for the first time in a couple of months as I went away on holiday, had an accident and had to stay on longer until I was off crutches. I am excited, but feel bad because I usually bring back gifts for the little ones and didn’t get an opportunity this time. I am hoping that a bag of chocolate treats from M&S will compensate.
I will mostly be changing the time on vehicle clocks!
My last day on holiday in Wales. Going to drive the golf buggy to the resort’s pool in a bit and then a Sunday lunch at a local pub. The only problem I have is choosing between pork or beef.
In a camping pod with the family so the kids slept terribly. About to go into the hot tub when ive had a coffee
Lunchtime roast with grandma at a local pub, possibly a nap
Ideally some chores after and I’d like to get the Quest on for a bit. Not fired it up in too long again
Just changed the time on my oven and two wall clocks. I’ve put the washing machine on as it’s sunny. I’m going to change my summer duvet to my winter one, as I was cold last night. I have an eye test at lunchtime and I’ll follow this with a food shop. At some point later this evening, I hope to go for a run.
Lazy Sunday planned. Wee bit of football this afternoon to watch my team get our weekly pumping.
Got a potentially silly question for folk here though relating to heating and cost.
I’ve not long moved into a new home and it has a fancy digital thermostat thing for the heating.
My old home it was just the boiler and had the time pins; I’d set it to start in the morning for a wee bit and then a wee bit in the evening.
Now in the new place I have it so it’ll kick in when the temperature drops below whatever setting I put.
Which is more cost effective? Having it at the stable temperature or just my wee morning/evening blasts?
It’s gas central heating, if that changes things.
Going to be starting dinner in the slow cooker soon Stewed sausages with carrots and onions.
Nothing exciting or interesting planned today. We’ll nervously watch the footie later, and I’ve volunteered to cook after that. I didn’t rake up the leaves yesterday because it rained, so I might do it today if I can summon some energy.
Almost 4yo has been up since the new 4.30am (5.30 is his regular wake up time). Managed to keep him in bed until just before 6am which was unexpected.
Off to a free family science day at the local university and then swapping books out at the library. Burgers and chips for tea as I know I’ll be flagging by this evening!
Lying in bed with the windows open, looking at the autumn colours of the trees. I have a good book, a cup of tea, a hot water bottle and a woolly hat on. Absolute bliss.
A bit of coding (I don’t do much at work now so trying to keep my hand on a little and experimenting with AI), a bit of gaming and cooking a beef carbonnade for the week ahead. Oh and contemplating my 50th birthday which looms on Wednesday.
Chill out with games. Get a bath. Think about changing all the clocks that don’t automatically change themselves. Maybe change those clocks…
As long as I at least get my watch done before tomorrow I’m good.
Our clocks go back next week, which always throws me off. Currently up in the early hours with a teething toddler (when are they not teething?!) and hoping I’m not too tired for choir later.
The dog woke me at 3.50 am took him around the block could hear lots of foxes making noises in the fields opposite my house.Made the mistake of scrolling on my phone so couldn’t go back to sleep. Its going to be a lazy day as my husband did some overtime yesterday and he’s decided to stay at home to watch his football instead of going down to the pub.The house is clean so apart from the dog walk am going to wallow on the sofa.
Week off is over, back to work today, dreading it as I’ve had 10 days off and the store changes the layout so frequently I’m going to have a hard time finding anything
Hungover and ordered Starbucks
Up and out early buying tampons and pads for the new girlfriend on a crisp autumnal morn.
🇬🇧
Today plan is uni work now that my zine mock up is done and dusted
Ocado is coming at 11/12
Then some housework and downton abbey!
No plans.
I’ve had a ‘niggly’ lower back for a few weeks. Kept putting off sorting it. Fell asleep on the sofa last night then got into bed, woke up with my back screaming at me in the early hours and the most awful pain and spasms in my shoulder blade. To get any relief my arm is held up like it belongs to a t-Rex, my head has pulled itself to the other side and when I move quickly I want to cry.
Waiting for strong painkillers to kick in and I’ll finally make an appointment with my osteopath tomorrow but I’m feeling sorry for myself firstly for the pain, secondly because I’ve been an idiot and not listened to my hyper mobile body and thirdly because I was going out for posh Sunday lunch and the pub has the most exciting pudding menu that I’ve been dreaming about all week.
Oh, and I’ve run out of bread and all I want is toast
God, that was a nice sleep. Wild vivid dreams though!
Lazy morning in bed, exercise class, food shop arriving, and then I need to look at packing for our holiday.
Lovely photo of the old Royal Navy College at Greenwich. I scrolled down the comments and nobody mentioned the link between the pic and the clocks going back to GMT…
The Royal Observatory at Greenwich is where the “prime meridian” was established in 1884, i.e. 0 degrees longitude. If you visit the Royal Observatory, you can see the Greenwich Meridian marked on the ground. This line became the reference for global navigation and also for time i.e. Greenwich Mean Time.
In 1967, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) replaced GMT as the world standard for time.
Not a lot of people know that I know that – but I do. My name is Michael Paine and I am a nosy neighbour.
In a very good mood today as I won Best Horror Short at a film festival last night (Terror on Tyne), now heading back home with my trophy in tow 🙌
We’re off on holiday tomorrow so today will be finishing off packing and my Mrs being intolerably stressed about whether we’ve got everything and are we organised. Also doesn’t help that it’s her special time!
we fly to japan next weekend, and i am obscenely busy every night this week so need to make sure i get clothes out ready to be packed on friday.
so far this morning i have had a shower/washed my hair but one of the cats is currently obsessed with being under a blanket so i’ve sat back in bed with her for the last hour and a half.
Still in bed and will stay here for another hour I think. Bit of housework, dog walk and then lazy day on the sofa. I fancy a gravy dinner but not a full on roast. Might just do a pie and some roasties. With a glass of red. Will be a nice sunday.
We were up carving pumpkins at 07:30 GMT…toddlers. Toddlers is the reason.
Happy Sunday!
It’s cold where I live and wet. I don’t plan to go outside as it’s grim.
My sister is going back to London after visiting me and the parents so she’s getting stuff ready.
Plans for rest of the day is, do some remaining house chores from yesterday, reading and then relax. Luckily all my time pieces are all digital.
