In the Slovak town of Senec, the Ukrainian women’s national team played a friendly match against the hosts, Slovakia.

According to the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF), the blue-and-yellow team won the encounter 2-1, Ukrinform reports.

For Volodymyr Pyatenko’s side, Nicole Kozlova (14th minute) and Olha Basanska (40th minute) scored; for Slovakia, Maria Mikolayova (22nd minute) scored.

Course of the match and key events

In the first half the Ukrainians took the lead after Kozlova’s successful finish in the 14th minute, and Basanska extended the advantage to 2:0 in the second half. The Slovak reply was productive: Mikolayova’s accurate shot in the 22nd minute reduced the deficit, but the final score remained in favor of the Ukrainian team.

This friendly gave players from both teams an opportunity to work on tactical options and confirm their readiness for future matches against national opponents.

The next friendly for the Ukrainians will be played on 28 October against Romania. The match will take place at the Concordia Chiajna Stadium in Bucharest, with the kickoff at 17:30 Kyiv time.
