American Airlines has become the third airline to resume flights to the popular destination.

The carrier confirmed on Friday that it will once again run direct flights to Tel Aviv, Israel.

Routes to Ben Gurion Airport had been halted for two years due to the conflict in Gaza.

But as of March 2026, American Airlines customers will be able to fly between New York and Tel Aviv.

The route will depart daily from John F. Kennedy Airport from March 28, the carrier confirmed.

Tickets for the new route go on sale on October 27.

There is also the possibility of running a new route to Israel from Los Angeles, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The outlet reported that American Airlines made the move after an appeal by the Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev.

She made the request while meeting with top execs during her visit to the US.

A return route to New York is expected to start on March 31, per the Post.

But American is not the first US airline to return to the Israeli capital city and its customers will have to wait longer than others to get there.

Its rivals Delta and United have already started flights to the Middle Eastern destination.

United resumed flights to Tel Aviv from Newark, New Jersey, in July.

This will be followed by routes between Tel Aviv and Chicago O’Hare from November 1 and between the capital and Washington Dulles International in DC on November 2.

Meanwhile, Delta restarted its route between JFK Airport and Ben Gurion on September 1.

The Atlanta-based airline is running seven flights per week.

Other airlines including British Airways, Iberia, Swiss, and Scandinavian Airlines have also confirmed the resumption of flights to Israel.

Elsewhere, Avelo Airlines has confirmed that from January it will halt all services from one state’s major international airport.

The carrier is suspending flights out of Bradley International Airport, Connecticut, after first launching flights from there in 2024.

It comes after Spirit Airlines announced it was ending service from Bradley Airport starting October 31.
