So naturally I named him Binx (since its October) and bought him treats so he loves me.

In fairness he may not be a stray, just a cat taking advantage of second and third breakfasts. He still has his balls though, and he really yowls for food, which makes me think he could be. Or at least a runaway perhaps? Although I've searched for lost posts and found none so far that match him.

I have tried putting a collar on him to see if he belongs to anyone, but with little success so far. I'm trying to find a local with a chip scanner now, since I have no way to just haul him off to the vets lol.

In the meantime he's enjoying extra food and cuddles when he turns up and he's making my shifts much more bearable.

  1. Have you looked up scan angels? They have quite a diverse group of people with scanners xxx either way looks like you’ve got a new work buddy xx

  2. Call your local branch of Cats Protection. If this cat sticks around your workplace for a significant amount of time they’ll be happy to come round and scan him for a chip.

  3. He is somebodys pet.

If he still has his balls then he needs those removed. That’s why he’s yowling (he’s shouting for the ladies)

Healthy, well cared for young cat with an idiot owner.

A local cat rescue could pick up, microchip check, neuter and release again.

  4. Its so hard with black cats, cause that legit could be my cat haha, he goes out and we live near an industrial estate so a lot of workplaces. One of my cats used to follow me when I used to work there and he was indeed locked for a day in a storage container, don’t worry he is fine.

  5. What a beautiful creature, providence has smiled upon you!

  6. Where abouts are you? This could genuinley be my friend’s cat

  7. Where abouts are you? Looks like my cat who didn’t come home yesterday! He regularly goes on little adventures so it’s no big concern

  8. He looks exactly like my sister’s cat. If you’re in Hartlepool he’s not a stray, promise! He has access in and out through a cat flap.

  9. He looks healthy and loved, when I would foster cats and take in strays they looked battle hardened and were standoffish until they warmed to people again, bless them. I think he has found his place to get second dinner with you lol. If you take him to a vet they will scan him for you to see if he has a chip, you could put a collar on him with a note under it with your number to see if anyone contacts you and maybe put his photo in a local group online.

  10. Are you in Shropshire and does it have a little white patch on its belly? Had a bloke asking about a similar cat the other day what are the chances.

  11. I wouldn’t assume whether he has his balls or not just by looking. Vets try not to remove the outer part when they neuter them nowadays as it can upset the cat to suddenly find them gone. Our boy cat still looks like his are there too.

Anyway definitely scan the microchip as I can only imagine how I’d feel if someone assumed ours were strays because they don’t wear collars and didn’t try to scan them. I definitely would be glad of someone looking after them like you are though.

  12. We had a six dinner sid cat that turned up at our new house and tried to break in multiple times. She scarfed down the dogs food, and made it her business to come in. She also was out in the rain a lot too, which we would let her in. Spent ages looking for owner online in the local community pages and no luck. Got her scanned because we were at the point of “winter is coming” and if she truly is homeless we need to make sure she is safe for winter (either adoption or in a rescue).

That cat knew she was rumbled the second the volunteer came in with a scanner. Beeped straight away.
    She lives 2 doors down.

She is still our buddy and joins us on dog walks but she really hammed it up, even crying outside our house at midnight to be let in.

Deffo get him scanned as first port of call.
He might be playing you, but he also might not.

    Good luck op!

  13. he’s hanging around because you’re feeding him, this might be unpopular but please don’t feed other peoples pets

  14. Guarantee you this boy is well cared for and just out on the grift, as The Cat is want to do.

  15. He doesn’t look like a stray, more like a very opportunistic cat who knows he’s on to a good thing. I would contact any local groups that can check for a microchip. I have two male lack rescue cats which means I’m biased but I do think they are the funniest, most loving cats. One of mine is smart, the other gets trapped in the kitchen on a daily basis!

  16. There’s a sweet little cat just like this at the hospital where I work, it’s always hanging around, some staff started feeding it, he’s constantly chasing attention and trying to come inside.

When he first started showing up, my colleague and I took him to the local vets and had him scanned as we thought he was a stray. Turns out he has a home nearby, he just prefers to spend his time sharing the love with the hospital staff.

  17. Do you mind sharing what city or area you’re in? Someone in my area has put up posters of their missing black cat recently.

  18. Yeah do check if it has an owner. Cats will beg for food whether or not they’ve been fed and in our case other people feeding our cat might eventually kill her due to dietary requirements. Obviously we put a ‘do not feed’ collar on her, but I’m sometimes worried people will ignore that.

  19. They did a study some years back and found that cats had at least three breakfasts from different places thinking they were strays then went back home to their “owners” house to sleep.

  20. Get a cat collar and attach this to it with a note in. If it has an owner they will see the collar, take the note out and insert a reply. Thats what I did with suspected stray cat. The owners wrote back confirming he was ok. 21. That cat looks like it has a home. I took in a stray, and it looked liked it was a stray; it also acted like it – he was social, but was always wary and could be quite volatile, hated being picked up.

Get it scanned, and browse the local FB pages. Suspect somebody is missing their friend.

  22. What’s your general area? I have a scanner I’m happy to do it if you’re nearby. Cute boy looks like he was definitely owned at some point even if not anymore!
    Edit : I’m Hertfordshire btw
