“It was shortly before 7pm on April 30, 2021, when Angela Rayner, deputy leader of the Labour Party, arrived at the grade II listed Durham Miners Hall after a day campaigning in the Hartlepool by-election.

Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, was already there and the pair spent the next few hours with their own aides, addressing an online event for members, filming campaign videos and signing off press releases. They were joined by Mary Foy, Labour MP for the City of Durham, and about four members of her team.

As hunger set in, takeaway was ordered from the Capital Indian restaurant and the group of 15 ate biryanis, bhunas, tikka masalas, rice and naan breads. The meal was accompanied by San Miguel.

Among those drinking the lager was the Labour leader, who was filmed by two university students swigging from a bottle and chatting with colleagues just after 10pm. At the time, gathering indoors with people from outside your household or support bubble was against the law, although there was an exemption for work purposes.

Starmer has spent the past week in a series of bruising broadcast interviews defending the gathering against accusations he and his team broke lockdown rules. On Tuesday, he refused three times to say whether police had been in touch with him following a number of fresh revelations about the gathering.”

  2. ““They were just there drinking”

“They were just getting pissed. They were just there for a jolly.”

“I wouldn’t say they were hammered but they were definitely a little bit tipsy by the end.”

I guess that’s the end of Keir Starmers career. And Angela.

  3. Ruh oh.

Well we at least now know keir stamer has lied quite a few times about this.

Quite incredible how anyone could handle this worse than boris, and after watching boris handle it so badly.

  4. Anyone calling out Boris to quit his job because he broke the lockdown rules should be doing the same for Starmer.
