President Trump’s meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping also has implications for the U.S.’ pressure campaign on Russia to stop the war in Ukraine, according to U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matt Whitaker.

“Right now, the Chinese are buying way too much Russian oil and gas,” Whitaker told Fox’s The Sunday Briefing. “They are providing too much dual-use technology to the Russians so they can continue this war, whether it’s drone parts or other technologies that can be used to continue to prolong this war.”

Whitaker called on China to join the U.S. and other allies in raising its voice. “President Trump is absolutely right to put pressure on the Russians,” Whitaker said. “And now, if the Chinese would join us, I think that would be a major step in finally ending the senseless killing.”
