LAS CRUCES, N.M. – (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Las Cruces Air and Space Expo made a triumphant return this weekend, marking its third year after a tragic accident cut last year’s show short.
With the recent cancellation of the Amigo Airshow, borderland residents eagerly anticipated the event at Las Cruces International Airport.
Despite last year’s tragedy, attendees expressed confidence in the safety and excitement of the show.
“I figured they would have a good show,” said attendee Martin Robinson.
Michael Mendoza, another attendee, recalled the memorial for the pilot who died last year, saying, “I actually had met him.”
James Lilley added, “We’re talking about Americans here, bro. We don’t back away from nothing.”
Exclusive video from last year captured the moment pilot Chuck Coleman’s plane crashed during his performance.
