I think we’d rather become some type of Puerto Rico than keep becoming Cuba
Reddit Americans mad about this, Venezuelans celebrating downfall of Maduro.
I guess they want cheap oil again lol.
As a Marine during GWOT 08-13.. These guys are not the ones you want to see at your doorstep if America has a problem with you. I’d assume we have rangers/ SOF doing interdiction activities on the ground very very shortly if they aren’t already in place. Since Iraq 1 SOAR has put troops behind the lines before every invasion. Gulf to now.
I’d put money on a ground invasion in the next 2 months.
I see the US making the same mistakes. Maduro’s replaceable, the money is not, the money feeding their loyalists is not. Another pawn gets in charge and the corruption keeps going. This will turn into a 10 year intervention involving other Latin American countries to keep the peace and institutional stability. I’m not saying it’s not worth, but bombs and chops are easy, controlling the country is not.
There’s a lot of people across the political spectrum in South America that will throw a party the day Maduro is no longer president of Venezuela. I just hope everyone remembers all the other times the US overthrew presidents in LatAm and what followed that.
If this spirals out of control the refugee crisis will be unmanageable.
You can think Maduro is a corrupt PoS and also think this is a really, really bad idea.
War is the ultimate distraction from what’s happening at home, so going to war was always the plan. Flood the media and further divide the people.
Actual chance of war?

I don’t like Maduro but the US has no right to invade yet another country.
Won’t this embolden a country like China even further. How can you police other countries when you yourself are engaging in brazen imperialist behaviour?
Seems like we’re no longer pretending, might really does make right now.
US involving itself AGAIN in Latin American governments, further destabilizing the entire region. Then we all cry when their citizens flee to the US for asylum. I wonder what billionaire will come out ahead when their orange puppet sees their interests through here
What are Maduro’s options at this point? If he orders offensive actions against the US, the reaction will be 100X against him. Even very limited actions against US assets would be seen in Washington as an excuse for major shock & awe retaliation.
Maybe he gathers up a billion dollars or so and disappears to Cuba or China?
Guys, guys, just relax. I can’t think of a single time when an American regime change adventure has gone poorly or turned into a decades long quagmire war that cost thousands of American lives, trillions of dollars, and accomplished nothing when we finally go home with our tails between our legs.
I recommend the novels Black Hawk Down and In the Company of Heroes to everybody. The presence of the Night Stalkers/SOAR and their interactions in foreign places has a lot of precedent. The battle of Mogadishu directly led to our reluctance to interfere in Rwand, as an example.
I’m in no way condemning the SOARs, they’re among the most badass of badasses (“You wanna pull those PCLs offline or what?”) This is moreso a condemnation of US foreign policy over the last 35 years. This shit always has far-reaching and unforeseen consequences.
no peace prize so now he wants the war prize
Can we go one fucking decade without regime changing someone ffs
Wait I thought he said no wars !!
Maduro is a shithead but generally, the US toppling dictators has not lead to better outcomes for the US or the other country
Yeah because USA creates stable goverments lol.
It’s a bad sign that they have oil.
Really funny to watch MAGA in the past bitch and moan about getting out of Afghanistan yet now they’re chomping at the bits to get the US stuck in another expensive, wasteful war. Actual sociopathic imbeciles that will run this country into he ground.
It’s all about control of resources and the colonization of empire. They have all the money to give for these operations, and a pittance for the people who generated the revenue. We need to vote, organize, and change the narrative and direction back to principles of democracy and liberty.
We should all read ‘War is a Racket’ by Colonel Smedley G Butler who became a vocal critic of U.S. military interventions, arguing that they were driven by business interests. That book was written in 1935. 90 years later nothing has changed. USA is after the vast newly discovered oil reserves off the coast of Venezuela, Columbia and Guyana. The War on Drugs is just a convenient sideshow.
Fantastic, yet another frivolous conflict on the horizon. However, this time we can expect a change of scenery from the usual flat desert to a tropical, mountainous terrain – adding a delightful touch of complexity to what is sure to be a logistical nightmare.
Didn’t maduro love trump in the first go round
So many GenZ boys who voted for Trump are about to get the full 2002 experience here.
Fun times.
