  1. Is that true?

    > Germany now has among the highest electricity costs worldwide, with average consumer prices of $0.365/kWh (roughly €0.35/kWh) by late 2025

  2. France has over fifty reactors, with six more in the works. Over seventy percent of its power production is nuclear. It exports power to the tune of 3 billion euros a year.

  3. big fan of the tower come-down party, but isn’t the real elephant in the room here nuclear vs renewable energy?

  4. This nuclear power plant was decommissioned at the beginning of 2022.

Everything from the powerplant will be removed, part of it was tearing down the cooling towers.

Once they’re done with the tearing down they will build a huge battery storage on that site. The power lines are already there so it makes sense to use them.

  5. it’s a legit bold move from Germany. Knockin’ down the ‘tomic towers n’ saying ‘hell no’ to nuclear. Props, Germany.

  6. Wasnt there kgb agents in the green party at the beggining ?

  7. Now we just buy nuclear energy for more money from France and burn coal.

    Art of the deal. 😎

  8. How to destroy a country’s nuclear energy without war or spilling blood. The only thing you need are idiots and activists dressed as politicians.

  9. All this so Germany can buy more Russian gas… Well played

  10. r/Europe is a weird nuclear fetish bubble. In germany we fought since the 80s against it.

Including construction, waste storage and eventually decommissioning, nuclear power is expensive. The operation is cheap, yes, but you have to calculate with the whole picture. Wind and solar are A LOT cheaper.

Germany decided 2011, lead by the conservative party CDU, to stop nuclear production. So we had 15 years to build up renewables to replace the reactors. But we didn’t. THIS is the fuck up. Not the shutdown of the reactors.

  11. In good times this would be called “shooting own leg”. In the case of war in Europe and all that shit, I don’t even know how to call this. Germany, you sick man of Europe.

  12. Germans made a bad decision… nuclear power is probably the most clean energy that we as a society will get and to throw it all away because some groups are fed some discourse that is not following science is amazing

  13. Greenist anti militarist liberals. Best time to do these things. Look at the world
