I paid 22 pound for a pizza margarita and 8 pounds for a pint in Scotland. I think you got of quite cheap for a tourist trap.

Anyway, that’s 5-6€ for each beer and 24-25€ per meals, which is a bit expensive for carbonades and fries, I guess, and sausages and some kind of stoemp, but nothing outrageous if it’s decently good.

Overpriced, stoofvlees is a €12 meal and it’s criminal what some places charge for stoemp, something that’s low effort and I make myself for €3. You’ve been robbed and that’s why I don’t eat out. That’s €35 of food if I’m being generous. The portions are way too small too, they should be double that. Also, stoofvlees comes with fries, it’s a fucking tradition since time immemorial, this place needs to go out of business. I would have walked out or at least made a scene and called them out. Was it run by millenials or zoomers? My grandmother is spinning in her grave towards Australia.
In the future, you can see if you’re in a good spot if they add crunchy bacon bits or strips to the stoemp. That means that the people preparing the dish actually know what they are doing and know the traditional way of making it. It means they put in an effort and that they actually had a grandmother who lived in Belgium and got taught by her mother herself. I mean, this is so traditional and fuckups are not tolerated. This is more culture than a meal to be honest.

I don’t see a bill with separate prices of the food, the chouffe, the chimay… you don’t post follow up, at least not what I can see with your nsfw tag… it’s so childish complaining you’ve paid a lot of money without elaborating.
That being said and taking your word: it’s expensive but not insane. Probably a few euro on each order more than what I would pay, but it’s not criminal. Depends where you are, and I’d say you paid tourist prices.
For some reason, food in Belgian restaurants is priced ridiculously high. I’m amazed at the cheaper prices the dutch have anytime I cross the border.
