It seems that there has been a twist in the situation regarding CyBC’s (RIK’s) artist selection for Eurovision 2026, with the decision taking longer than initially expected.

“It’s not a choice between two”

Sources from Cyprus’ public broadcaster told us earlier that the reports circulating over the past few days and being repeated on both Cypriot and Greek TV shows are not accurate. The selection process is not limited to only two candidates.

The special committee formed just a few days ago has not yet decided on the artist who will represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2026. Contrary to popular belief, Josephine and Giorgos Perris are not the only names being considered. In fact, we were told that it is not unlikely that a third artist from the shortlist—which was recently leaked—could ultimately be chosen.

The artists reportedly in contention to represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2026 are:

Josephine

Giorgos Perris

Evangelia

Katerina Stikoudi

Nina Mazani

Good Job Nicky

Antigoni

Mikay

Decision and Announcement Delayed

Despite claims that RIK is rushing to make an announcement, this is far from the truth.

Our sources from the Cypriot delegation made it clear that no immediate decision will be made, as the committee members have not yet reached a consensus. There are several differing opinions, meaning that further meetings will be required before deciding who will represent Cyprus in Eurovision 2026.

Both the Cypriot delegation and the selection committee intend to thoroughly review all proposals from the record labels, taking into account each artist’s potential and prospects for the competition in May. Their main goal is to achieve the best possible result in the final ranking — and, of course, to deliver a performance that will make all Cypriots proud.

Focus Now on Junior Eurovision 2025

For now, RIK’s focus is on announcing its Junior Eurovision 2025 entry, which is expected to take place next week. Rafaella Panteli and Christos Georgiou have completed filming the music video, and the project is now in the editing and mastering phase for the song “Away”, which they will perform in Tbilisi.

Any decisions regarding Cyprus’ Eurovision 2026 entry will be finalized after the presentation of the country’s Junior Eurovision participation. Therefore, fans are advised to be patient and not to take any rumored names for granted, as, according to our sources, a surprise choice may still be on the horizon.
