GOG pushed Paris with explosive attack from the start of the game. He continued to score in consecutive 7-6 situations at the beginning of the game, widening the gap to 19-11, and has never given up a lead since then.
Center back Oli Mittún played the ace with nine goals, and wing Frederik Frich Bjerre led the attack with eight more goals. In addition, Lasse Sunesen Wilhelmsen and Hjalte Lykke also scored six goals each to improve the overall scoring balance of the team.
Goalkeeper Peter Johanneson made 12 saves and saved several crucial moments to seal GOG’s victory.
Paris Saint-Germain, who played with enthusiastic support from home fans, lost the lead by showing defensive instability from the beginning.
Elohim Prandi scored nine goals, Ferran Sole Sala scored eight, and Sindre Heldal and Luc Steins each scored five, but it was not enough to fill the overall gap.
Paris Saint-Germain’s right wing Ferran Sole told the European Handball Federation: “I’m very disappointed with today’s result. I didn’t get the flow of the game right in the beginning, and it was hard to catch up. Using this defeat as a lesson, I will show better performance in the next Champions League game,” he said.
