I want to see pure mayhem
It’s actually a more difficult situation for SF than most people want to acknowledge. They know its probably a bit too early to win a border poll, but at the same time the Nationalist bloc is probably as large as it ever will be.
Alliance gain ground every election cycle, and importantly the fact that they are socially progressive makes them appealing to younger voters who don’t identify strongly as British or Irish. This trend is only going to continue, and being an essentially status quo party who don’t want to rock the boat, they are always going to favour the current situation over backing a change.
Funnily enough then, I would argue that the biggest impediment to Irish Unity isn’t actually any of the hardline Unionist parties, but rather the very soft unionism/status quo-ism of Alliance.
Dup, uip, tuv and alliance are all unionist of some sort. Which is well over 50%. The nationalist vote is sdlp and sf, which is only 38%
