PKP Polish Railway Lines (PKP PLK) has updated its rail infrastructure tender plan for this year. Instead of the originally anticipated PLN 16 billion (EUR 3.8 billion), the total value of announced tenders has increased by EUR 2.6 billion and will reach PLN 27 billion (EUR 6.4 billion) for the year as a whole.

This marks a significant increase compared with previous assumptions and sends a clear signal to the market that the company is a reliable and active investor, consistently implementing an ambitious programme of modernising Poland’s railway network.

By the end of 2025, two further major tender procedures with each worth over PLN 100 million (EUR 23.6 million) are expected to be announced. The first concerns the reconstruction of section LOT-B1-1 Sitkówka Nowiny – Miąsowa, while the second involves the installation of the ETCS Level 2 system on railway line no. 351 between Poznań and Szczecin. Both projects are of key importance for improving train safety, operational efficiency and for developing modern technological solutions within Poland’s railway infrastructure.

At the same time, the infrastructure manager has announced its 2026 rail infrastructure tender plan, worth PLN 9.5 billion (EUR 2.3 billion), with the largest tenders to be launched in the first quarter of next year.

In Q1 2026, the final procurement procedures will also be launched for the flagship Podłęże – Piekiełko project, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Poland. The year 2026 will see construction works under way across the entire project, with the exception of sections already in use, such as Chabówka – Rabka Zaryte. This investment is of great importance to the Małopolska region – the modern infrastructure will improve rail accessibility in the south of the country and form part of a wider transport corridor in this part of Poland.

In the following quarter, tenders will be launched to enable more comfortable and safer rail journeys from Orzesze to Tychy, as well as to establish a new railway connection from Tychy to Bieruń. These developments will provide residents of the region with faster and more convenient services, particularly important in the context of strengthening public transport across the Silesian Voivodeship.

In the second quarter, a tender will also be announced for the construction of a new rail link near Jaworzno Szczakowa station, which will shorten travel times on the Kraków – Olkusz route.

In the third quarter, tenders will cover the modernisation of Psary station, part of the Central Mainline (CMK) and its connections—the most important long-distance railway corridor in Poland. The upgrade, which will create a grade-separated junction between the CMK and the line towards Kraków, will enable more trains to run and reduce journey times on the Warsaw – Kraków route.

In the fourth quarter, further key investments are planned to strengthen regional transport links and improve rail accessibility in various parts of the country. These include the revitalisation of the rail corridor on lines no. 390 and 236 Czarnków – Rogoźno – Wągrowiec, the construction of a new railway connection between Kraków and Niepołomice, and construction works under the Wrocław Metropolitan Railway project. As a result, connections between Legnica and Wrocław (on the Środa Śląska – Wrocław section) will be improved, enhancing passenger comfort and supporting the growth of regional rail transport.
