Now they have two options:
1) Crying about it on Twitter, and blaming the customer for not paying you a living wage when you should be blaming your boss
2) Go the French route, start a union, burn a few trash containers, and get a decent wage plus some paid vacations.
Guess which one they’ll choose.

How many hours? Cause I doubt it was more than four, which would have her at $17.50 an hour… isn’t that a good wage? I thought they were fighting for $15 an hour?
Yeah, because 70 dollars is such little payment to serve a table for maybe three hours. Lol
I wouldn’t have given 70$, they already ordered for 700, the location made quite a revenue. An extra of $50 on top seems pretty ok to me, generous even.

I’m not against tipping. If the service is extraordinary, I’d leave any <50-cent coins that I find in my pockets. Get yourself 1/3 of a can of coke with that, kid, you deserve it.
(50 cent coins are too valuable because I need them to unlock a cart in the supermarket, so I hold onto them.)

Now divide that $70 by the time the waiter actively worked for that specific table. …and compare the hourly rate with the salary of the chef (the person who stood in the hot kitchen, actually preparing the food)….
Well they didn’t want to tip the manager obviously so 20% /2 = 10%.

Let’s be honest for a minute. I was over the moon about the service provided by the neurosurgeon who operated on my spine and put an end to years of agonising pain and my increasing struggle to walk. I have never been in a restaurant – and I don’t believe anybody ever has – where the service provided by the waitress left me feeling over the moon. I mean you’re bringing plates of food out that somebody else cooked – you’re not even integral to the dining out experience. I went for lunch with my kid this afternoon and you have to pick up the food from a little hatch yourself and I managed just fine. Gonna give myself a tip for my excellent service.
Off topic a bit, but it just occurred to me that the neurosurgeon charged me £750 for his time and expertise during that operation while that restaurant is charging almost the same for a few plates of food and they’re still not paying their staff properly.
If it’s mandatory, it’s not a tipping. Increase the price of the menu items to factor it in, or, you know, ask your manager for a raise
So let me get this straight, Americans enjoy calling us ‘Europoors’ and talking about how they are superior to us, but then they expect us to copy their culture and tip them well just because that’s how they do it
