  1. I, for one, applaud Hans here. No, that’s not violence; that’s delivering an education.

  2. Based Hans.

Will it come to a point where Europe will have to liberate the US ?

  3. He just wanted to sent his heart out to you, Hans. Didn’t you think about that?

  4. Depending on the area where it happened, he wasn’t beaten up because of the nazi salute but because of his nationality. For me: both are very good reasons.

  5. Germans beating up american fascists. What a time to be alive.

  6. Imagine their surprise when they realize their actions have consequences

  7. I know a few pubs in Berlin where he would be set upon by the elderly just for being American. No other reason needed

I took a US friend drinking in one, and he had to leave quite quickly. Some historic bad feelings there and I didn’t realise, he was the nicest chill guy ever too. Unlike my annoying American boss at the time who would just get punched in his face by punks for merely existing so couldn’t ride the U-bahn. I did smile heartily when I found that out.

Choose the wrong pub and pop a nazi salute? Well you are not even getting asked to leave and just probably eating a chair.

  8. This happened in my beloved city of Dresden, which is usually known for quite opposite incidents.
Maybe we are not completely lost yet, maybe they just didn’t like his yank face, maybe he did the salute wrong. We don’t know.

  9. An Indian colleague of mine did that once jokingly or whatever he was “thinking”… I explained that this is a felony in Germany and if there is ever going to be a second time where he does something like that HR and Police will be informed.
He only got the warning since he’s utterly unaware of social norms (and laws) in Germany and he’s genuinely a nice guy. He was also riding his bike on the Autobahn where police had to escort him off…
Not the brightest guy, but lovely and dedicated.

  10. Would have been real funny at the police station.

“So you beated up a tourist”

“yeah he did a nazi salute”

    “understandable have a nice day”

  11. Hans, as hard as it is to say it, you deserve an award. As an hommage, I let you choose between french kissing me, or Gérard Depardieu.

(Plot twist, we might be the same person)

  12. It’s grey + miserable outside and yet the sun is shining in my heart. All thanks to Hans.

  13. A good news. A coffee. A Good day!

  14. Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need! 🫡

That’s what happens when authority aren’t in charge of situation, the society does

  16. Happened in Dresden, Central Germany is always so violent 😢

  17. Showing the Hitler salute in public is also a punishable offence in Germany. I’m not aware that people really fetched the theoretical maximum penalty of three years in prison (though I don’t follow this closely) but I just found a report about a 600 € fine.

Not sure if “drunk idiot discounts” apply but it’s something judges are pretty touchy about.

  18. Don’t any American dare to claim they are doing anything they can against the rise of fascism in the US

  19. I don’t condone this amount of violence, he should’ve beat him up twice.

  20. Reasonable response by Hans. The stranger was defending herself.

  21. What is this nonsense? A foreigner committing a crime in Germany? What kind of conspiracy therories are you spreading here?
