  1. The r/WorldNews subreddit is delighted to welcome the Rt Hon u/David_Gauke as our guest speaker for our next Reddit Talk live-audio event.

He will discuss the future of British party politics, after the dramatic results of yesterday’s local elections.

Mr Gauke served as Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice. He [resigned from Boris Johnson’s Cabinet in 2019](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49033157), rather than vote for a no-deal exit from the EU.

He will speak to us on Monday 09 May 2022, beginning at 17h00 UTC (18h00 London / 13h00 Washington DC / 10h00 Vancouver), at the r/WorldNews subreddit. [Identify your local time here](https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20220509T170000&p1=107&p2=195&p3=136&p4=263&p5=256).

  2. David Gauke isn’t going to be putting forward unbiased opinions. He resigned in protest at Johnson but he’s still a dyed in the wool tory and his [voting record](https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/11633/david_gauke/south_west_hertfordshire/votes) speaks volumes on his values, which don’t really reveal him to be a particularly good person in general.

Given that the tories have just attacked the on of the fundamental cornerstones of our democratic system, inviting one to pontificate on the matter may well be a particularly egregious move.
