  7. This has happened lots of places. A local councillor was assaulted here and thugs turned up at someone’s house to threaten them.

  9. I hate this far right anti-intellectual nonsense. In 90% of cases there is a very valid reason as to why things get dropped. You lot don’t read beyond the headlines and just want to find things that fit your narrative.

    For all reform would have you believe, our legal system works very well.

    Do some critical thinking please – source a lawyer and UCL law graduate.

  10. There is no evidence that the police are “afraid to prosecute”.

    The issue seems to be that they have not been able to identify suspects and that there is no CCTV footage. There is also mention of the fact that this chap was accused of attacking people.

    However I’m not sure being out at 4am carrying a pole is very wise. And I’m unclear as to why he was out at 4am.

    It seems that we really don’t know what’s happened and that the police, in the absence of evidence and any suspects can’t – for obvious reasons prosecute anyone.

  12. If you Google it, you find the police dropped it because there was no CCTV of the incident and no clear witness statements. That basically means zero chance of prosecution and zero chance of the CPS progressing it.

  14. I love how so few posts have condemned the people who attacked him.

    Instead the focus has been on the incorrect statement that the police were afraid, or the many reasons why a case may be dropped, or even in at least one case, questioning why the guy was taking down flags at 4.30am (probably because he figured that nobody would be around who might want to attack him for taking them down in the first place).

    I am very sure that a lot of these commenters would be very quick to call out people for those very same comments if the attackers in question had been an immigrant.

  16. They look ridiculous on every lamp post. Drive around any Reform led area and it makes our flag look tacky as hell. Touch them though and someone will shout your a lefty or woke.

    Nothing says patriotism more than a ragged, dirty, faded, flag, poorly attached halfway up a lamppost.

    Especially when half the time, they’re not even proper flags. I roll my eyes everything I see the St George’s flag that says “England” on it. I guess they’d probably forget if it wasn’t labelled though.

    These flags are not put up for “patriotic” reasons. It’s fucking embarrassing and they should be taken off all lampposts.

    The utter pieces of shit who put them up and have nothing better to do (except draw benefits) I can guarantee have done absolutely nothing throughout their pitiful life to actually give back to their local community.

    If all these benefit scrounging flag shaggers put the effort over their stupid flag antics into their local community it may actually benefit and improve.

  23. Ultimately the ‘two tier’ justice system is about connections and money, like ex Estonia Andrew Boekman who was allowed to be tired as Andrew Picard and was given a suspended sentence for trying to sell videos of dogs fucking toddlers on the darknet to undercover agents.

  25. As a Scot I love that the English are flying their flags proudly to show the patriotic love of their country / history and ideals.
    It’s a shame this guys was assaulted. It takes away from the real reason people are moved to fly the flags in the first place.
    Keep up the momentum England, just do it peacefully to show the naysayers they don’t have an argument.

    Looks like an old guy who fell down the stairs, their eyes always swell from a head injury.

    If he was battered you would expect consistent Injuries across various parts of the face.. the cheeks bones especially take most the brunt in a battering.

    His lips and teeth look totally unbattered too.
