Asylum status for refugees visiting their home countries to be revoked

Recognized refugees who return to their countries of origin will lose their asylum status under new regulations announced by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.

According to ministry sources, any individual granted refugee status in Greece who visits the country from which they originally fled and claimed persecution will be deemed to have demonstrated that they no longer face danger there.

In such cases, authorities will initiate procedures to suspend or revoke their asylum status.
